In the Footsteps of St Paul
Embark on a journey, retracing the path of the revered saint during his transformative 3-month stay on Malta. Begin the day at the St. Paul’s Shipwreck Church in Valletta, adorned with relics and treasures, including a part of the column on which St. Paul was beheaded. Explore the Mellieha cave church, since early days a site for pilgrims, drawn to it by the Siculo-Byzantine painting of the Madonna and Child on the bare rock face. Reflect on the shores of St. Paul’s Bay, the believed site of the shipwreck, and view the church where the locals lit a fire to warm the survivors, witnessing the miraculous viper incident. Continue to Naxxar and Rabat, where Paul’s preaching echoes, culminating in a walking tour of Mdina, where Publius’s home, turned into the first church, stood in place of the Cathedral.
